Sudbury Opticians, Drage and Tozer, Celebrate 20 Years Service With New Premises and Better Facilities

Founded in 1995 by Helen Drage and Sandra Tozer, Drage and Tozer Opticians are celebrating 20 years of caring for the eyes of Sudbury by expanding their practice into new premises.

The practice in Siam Place, situated in North Street Car Park, includes a dedicated Contact Lens Centre, sight-testing rooms, a greater range of spectacles and sunglasses, and a comfortable waiting area with coffee machine.

Sandra Tozer commented, “We are very excited about the move. The open modern space is easily accessible and wheelchair-friendly with ground floor consulting rooms and disabled parking right outside. Our elderly and less mobile patients will now have better access than ever to our services.”

Helen Drage added, “Our dedicated Contact Lens Centre means we can encourage and support more people in trying contact lenses. With modern advancements in materials, we believe that age should not be a barrier to successful contact lens wear. It is now possible for younger children to wear contact lenses, and mature wearers can benefit from multifocal lenses.”

Drage and Tozer are investing in the latest equipment to provide the highest standard of examination and dispensing to all members of the family. Retinal cameras will photograph the back of the eye and allow detailed comparisons. A new high definition video slit lamp will enable patients to view a video of the front of their eyes and see how well their contact lenses are working for them.

Drage and Tozer aim to provide high quality eye care and spectacles tailored to their patients’ individual needs. As an independent Optician, they have access to all the major spectacle frame and lens manufacturers and are able to fit a wide range of contact lenses. Andrea Hunt, Dispensing Optician, commented, “I’m excited to be able to stock the smaller designer frame companies as well as the mainstream brands of Oakley and Rayban, and we now have a large selection of non-prescription sunglasses.”

Well-known in the town for their exemplary levels of customer service, their knowledgeable staff are friendly and courteous, and committed to delivering the highest standards of professional eyecare that meet their patients’ lifestyle requirements. As a result many patients have become friends over the years since first opening and Helen, Sandra and their staff look forward to welcoming them into their new premises, adding, “We invite patients to call in and say Hello and receive a bottle our 20th Anniversary Cleaning solution which they can refill in the practice when it runs out.”
