Sudbury to obtain Walkers are Welcome status

Walkers are Welcome is a community lead scheme run by the towns themselves. There are Walkers are Welcome towns and villages in all parts of Britain and we would like to make Sudbury the first Walkers are Welcome town in Suffolk to strengthen the towns reputation as a place for visitors and residents to enjoy the outdoors and promote the (…) beautiful countryside we have on our doorstep.
Julia Bradbury, broadcaster and walking enthusiast said “The Walkers are Welcome Scheme is a truly innovative project. It’s such a simple concept to set up an accreditation scheme for walk-friendly towns, then encourage the towns to network together for support, advance and ideas”.
Beat the Street, Sudbury Town Council and the Tourist Information Centre have set up a steering group to get accreditation and would like to hear from any groups which would like to get involved or if you are a business who can demonstrate that you are friendly to walkers and would like to display the widely recognised logo once Sudbury has been approved as a Walkers are Welcome town.
As part of the application we need to demonstrate local support and would ask everyone to go to https://goo.gl/lQ1PJy to sign up online or visit Sudbury Tourist Information Centre located in the library to register your support. For more information visit https://walkersarewelcome.org.uk or if you would like to get involved locally contact sudburytic@sudburytowncouncil.co.uk
