Some of England’s greatest artists have found inspiration in and around Sudbury including one of Sudbury’s most famous sons, Thomas Gainsborough. museum and gallery in the Netherlands. As a young artist, Thomas Gainsborough was greatly inspired by the Dutch landscape tradition of the seventeenth century.
Between July 19 and 24, the Sudbury Summer Art Show will be in St. Peter’s, showcasing the work of around 50 local artists. Work will include paintings, pottery, printmaking and mosaics, most of which will be for sale.
The eighth Party in the Park will be held in Belle Vue Park on July 24. The event aims to raise the profile of the diverse range of clubs and groups in and around Sudbury. There will be displays by local groups, a range of activities and live music in the evening.
Throughout July, St. Peter’s will be continuing with free lunchtime concerts every Tuesday between 12.30 and 1.30, Kettle & Fish hold their peaceful café and information centre every Thursday and not forgetting the very successful Farmers Market which is held on the last Friday of every month.
From July 25 to 30, the Quay Theatre will be running its Summer Schools for young people aged 10 to 15 years. It’s a chance to learn and refine performance skills through classes, workshops and performances. Booking in advance is required to take part.
