The true spirit of Christmas will shine in Sudbury this December thanks to a new initiative by Churches Together in Sudbury and District. The Sudbury Advent Art Trail will lead visitors and shoppers to the town on a trail around the shops to find artwork relating to the Christmas story. Local artists and schoolchildren are being invited to (…)submit artwork relating to the Nativity which will then be displayed in different shops in the town.
After Christmas, all the art will be on display in St Peter’s on 7th January and members of the public will have the chance to vote for their favourite piece. The two winning entries will be printed as Christmas cards for sale at Christmas 2017 and proceeds will go to Future Vision, who work in our local schools.
Spearheading this, the first trail to be organised in the town, Gerry Higginson, chairman of Churches Together in Sudbury and District said: “This exciting initiative will offer people the opportunity to step aside from the hustle and bustle usually associated with the ‘Festive Season’ and consider the real meaning of Christmas.”
Leaflets detailing the trail will be available from Sudbury Library, Town Hall, No. 72 and Kingfisher Leisure Centre and the event will be launched at Sudbury’s late night shopping night on 25th November.
