A huge Art Fair is launching in Sudbury next week and is set to run for six days. This is no ordinary art exhibition as it is a showcase for the work of over 60 of this area’s leading artists and crafts people – most of them well known professionals. It is being held in the town’s central venue of St Peter’s on the Market Hill. The Sudbury Summer (…)Art Fair runs from Tuesday 19th to Sunday 24th July and is open from 10am until 8pm from Thursday to Saturday (Sunday 5pm), There is the opportunity to buy original works of art and craft and a shop where you can buy unframed work, prints and greetings cards – all produced by the artists themselves. Many of the artists will be on hand during the week, manning the show. Admission is free. Viewers are invited to come enjoy coffee and cake at the café.
“Our continued efforts to encourage a more professional presentation, and to make this exhibition stand out from the many art shows that happen at this time of year are definitely paying off” said Robin Drury, the exhibition organiser “As a result we have been really pleased at the response from the top artists around who are keen to be part of this event. “.
“This Show is biennial and the sister exhibition to The Sudbury Society’s “Visions of Sudbury” Over the years both have proved very popular with both exhibitors and the public. Proceeds from the event will go towards the St Peters refurbishment project”.
The Preview Evening on Monday 18th July is to be opened by the Director of Colchester Arts Centre (former director of First Site) Anthony Roberts and accompanied by the Mayor of Sudbury, Suffolk.
